" My first interaction with Ms. Leena left me extremely happy my child was under her care.  She just arrived at our daycare center about two weeks earlier and implemented a new academic activity.  I had questions about the activity I shared with the Director in Ms. Leena’s presence.  The very next day, Ms. Leena sought me out to explain she researched the activity that night, including a review of the daycare center’s policies/procedures, to provide me with additional answers supporting the activity’s implementation. Her initiative to address my concerns so thoroughly reflects an outstanding level of professionalism and appreciation for the parent-teacher relationship.

Ms. Leena is a phenomenal preschool teacher.  Most impressive is how she supports a child’s development of the whole-person with daily lessons on social skills, academics, emotional health, and physical wellbeing.  Thanks to her, my 4 year old son can identify periods of higher stress/agitation and self-regulate to a calmer state through deep breathing and meditation exercises.  He also refuses sugary drinks and emulates the concept of moderation with unhealthy foods – a direct result of her exceptional ability to equip children with the tools and confidence required to make healthy choices on their own.  Additionally in the 4yr old class, students are recognizing sight words and understanding addition/subtraction.

On several occasions, Ms. Leena demonstrated her ability to be flexible with structure to best meet the needs of her class and individual students.  For example: for an extremely high energy, large class she included a morning yoga/meditation session to harness the energy and focus for the day.  She also tailored specific play options for two children who required additional practice with collaboration and sharing, while maintaining the impressive level of attention and care to the rest of the classroom.

During late afternoon pick-up time, Ms. Leena’s energy and enthusiasm remains strong and she actively engages with the children, teaching them a variety of games and exercises.  Even during multi-day periods of not going outside because of weather restrictions, Ms. Leena ensures the children release their energy in a healthy and productive manner.

Given the choice, I would request Ms. Leena for every year for each of my three children.  In fact, a decision point to delay my son’s entrance into Kindergarten is whether he will have Ms. Leena as a teacher at daycare next year. For these reasons, I strongly recommend Ms. Leena for recognition, award, advancement opportunities, and for families who are considering sending their child where Ms. Leena will be teaching. "
